You Turkey!
MSNBC's Countdown aired this tonight with much fanfare -- Sarah Palin doing a local Alaska TV interview while turkeys from a hatchery are slaughtered behind her....She opens by pardoning one turkey as governor and reading a proclamation as a "friend" of animals...She then does a three-minute interview with turkeys being led and fed to the slaughter (gobble, gobble) in the background right behind her. She closes by saying that, yes, she will be in charge of the turkey on Thanksgiving....
MSNBC, which had fuzzed out some of the gore (there's a YouTube video where the blood flows) and urged parents to maybe get their kids away from the screen, said that a Palin aide later explained that she had signed off on the backdrop. "No worries," Palin advised. -- Greg Mitchell
I'm thinkin' Mooselini is bilking Alaskan taxstooges by the word.

The American people will know how those turkeys feel if the Wasilla Hillbilly ever gets real power.

Anybody else think that Shuster looks just like Otto the blow-up doll/autopilot from the original Airplane movie?

Weird.

What is this a, Fargo, remake? Is that Carl in the wood chipper?
Oh, and its got to be about jobs! Job creation, all this under the umbrella of Thanksgiving to usher in a new job creation market environment value set.

"Friend to all creatures great and small"?? WTF
If Americans are stupid enough to actually elect her president, I'll be going ex-pat. I have hammers in my toolbox that are smarter than this ditz.

We'll all be slaughtering poultry in the coming dark days. It's very fashion-forward of her. I'm only partly kidding.

To Jimmy Jazz...
I've always thought Shuster looked more like Wallace from "Wallace and Gromit" fame. When he opens his mouth his lower jaw looks about twice as wide as his upper jaw. I keep expecting him to ask for some Wensleydale.
In any case, it appears that nothing succeeds at MSNBC like calling a female US Senator -- an at-the-time front runner for her party's presidential nomination -- a pimp for her daughter.
Hey, if LIEberman can keep his committee chair and a convicted felon cna get a standing O in the US Senate, why not let Shuster guest host Countdown? Hell, why not give him his own show?

"it appears that nothing succeeds at MSNBC like calling a female US Senator -- an at-the-time front runner for her party's presidential nomination -- a pimp for her daughter."
Uh, Balrog? What female US Senator are we talking about here?
I don't know of one that fits this description. If you're talking about Sarah Palin, that's a US GOVERNOR, who was a VICE PRESIDENTIAL candidate.
And I don't know of anyone who accused her of pimping for her daughter. (I do know of a few blogs who asked if she was covering up for her daughter's pregnancy by claiming it was her own, but that didn't come from MSNBC, or any other network.)

Ah, you're talking about Hillary Clinton! The "pimp" comment was in poor taste, I agree. However, in context it had to do with political speech, not with the original sexual meaning of the word.

Enh. I don't care about the backdrop of turkey-slaughtering. That's gonna go on whether she's there or not. I'm more interested in her cutting short her "pardon" speech by saying, "Well, you know what I'm talking about." Couldn't she have just said "yadda, yadda, yadda"?

It's quite possible that Gov. Palin has done more for animal rights with this ad than...pretty much anything I've seen in years. Expect for her wolf-shooting. That was pretty bad. But this backdrop is apparently of her own approval.
There will be a lot of unsold turkeys this year as a result. And a lot more Vegans.
Go Palin!
Let's see some moose-slaughter video next time, OK?

Gee, how do folks think turkeys get into those plastic bags? They somehow just appear that way?
And, as someone above noted, we may need to get used to doing some of our slaughtering. May need to learn how to pluck and get those pin feathers out....
Chickens are about the only livestock which can be raised in city settings. They're small, lay eggs during their lifetimes, and then can provide meat protein. Stewing hens, ya know?
Relatively little space required, relatively inexpensive to feed. If given some open space, maybe you can sell eggs ahd chickens as "free-range" for higher profit.
Good luck in the coming downturn, all you urban and suburban farmers!

Balrog was referring to Schuster's saying the Clintons "pimped out" their daughter, Chelsea. Caused a bit of a stir at the time, but...
so soon we forget....
