Andy Rooney's Few Minutes Praising Newspapers

Rooney_andy Andy Rooney, who is better known for his 60 Minutes commentaries than his newspaper column, paid homage to the daily print read on Sunday. With all of the news going on, from financial woes to a new president-elect, Rooney chose to use his few minutes at the end of the weekly news magazine to praise our industry. Noting the declining circulation and revenue for the daily miracle, Rooney points out: "There is still no decline in the faith people put in their newspapers." -Joe Strupp

Mr. Rooney, I can appreciate your need for expressing your opinions, because I too have one I need to express.

Your thoughts on celebrating Christmas prior to Thanksgiving....There is nothing wrong with celebrating the birth of Christ at anytime. Even in July if desired. I celebrate by putting up my Christmas tree and I would love to do it the first of October. Christmas, to the people that understand Christmas, is a celebration of the Birth of our Savior.......Period.
Sad to say people do benefit, financially from that time of year. But the celebrating time is way too short if waiting until Thanksgiving is over. Besides.........Thanksgiving is a part of Christmas....the thankfulness for the sacrifice of our Savior who suffered and died an awful death so people can be human and have human experiences, and still be hopeful of a better place then one so full of cruelty, anger and violence. Thank you for the opportunity of expressing my feeling about the celebration of Christmas!

Great work, well researched
