Nashville Paper All Over Debate

Tenn_final_final_2 The Tennessean of Nashville is promoting tonight's second presidential debate at nearby Belmont University with full force. The paper's front page is nearly all debate preview, with just a small mention in the upper right corner of the latest Dow Jones plunge. Online, coverage is ranging from sightings of debate moderator Bob Schieffer and KISS rocker Gene Simmons at The Palm to CBS' 'Early Show' broadcasting live from the city.

The lead art is a photo of Obama and McCain stand-ins helping to prepare for the showdown. But for some reason, the paper chose to use a Gannett News Service article instead of a local scribe for the lead story. Life in the daily news short-staffed world, perhaps.   -Joe Strupp
