Debate Reactions

Huh?  I was out all night hearing/experiencing  the "Heiliger Dangesang," the best reason in the world to miss the debate.  So what happened?  From what I gather the pundits are spinning it as "even,"  some hailing a "knockout" performance by Palin (Adam Nagourney of the NYT seems to have given it to her).  One problem: virtually all of the polling afterward revealed an easy win by Biden (such as this one).  Sounds like an instant replay of the pundit/viewer gap in the McCain/Obama debate -- I wrote about it at length last week.

I take it that Biden had an emotional moment (see video). And that Gwen Ifill, as usual, was weak.  Also, I see that I missed the long-rumored but finally aired Palin remark to Katie Couric that the only thing that Dick Cheney has done wrong is shoot his friend in the face, but she hastened to add, "that was, that was an accident."  Unlike the invasion of Iraq. -- Greg Mitchell

I'm not surprised about Nagourney, he seems to be a born contrarian, but I challenge you to read this transcript and come up with any answer, ANY answer by Palin that demonstrates any more substance than Miss South Carolina. Biden did well, of course. Ifill was terrible.
