After 40 years, 'Rolling Stone' Thinks Small

Rolling_sotne Big news in the magazine biz today is Rolling Stone finally shrinking to "normal" size.  When I wrote record reviews for the original "Stone" back in early 1970 it was still a quarterfolded newspaper.  My pan of the Bridge Over Troubled Water album (those big vinyl things, if you have never seen one) -- I was a disillusioned original S&G fan -- drew a lot of hate mail, as I recall.  But back in the day,  before the blog era,  they only had room to print one or two letters, thank heavens. -- Greg Mitchell
